Level Fragments
| |
Using the Demo Editor (see the Debug/Cheats page), you can access levels which are just downright
bizarre. These levels are documented below.
Asterite Cave Level
| |
This level is pretty much the same as the Asterite Cave level with the entry teleport ring, except with
one interesting difference. The two revolving Asterite globes are replaced with .. bubbles? Yep! You
can't sing to it, and it doesn't show up on Sonar. The bubbles revolve properly, however.

Level 12 (Darkness)
| |
This level is inaccessible from the Cheat/Debug menu (nothing happens if you select it.) However, using
the Demo / Attract Mode Editor, you can access it. It's really just an empty square, with dark water, a shadowing
effect on Ecco and solid black walls. However, there's some sort of invisible cubic shape that clips you when you
swim around the bottom of the screen.

VRAM Display Level
| |
This level is completely empty, and appears to display some of the current contents of VRAM (Video Memory)
as the background. For this reason, wherever you stop the Vortex Queen intro to enter the Demo Editor
will be displayed as the background. For example, in the second image below, you can faintly see stars-
that is a Space frame from the intro. As you can see in the third image below, however, a tile set for the
letters in the message screens covers part of the Vortex Queen. It seems that this occurs because the left-over
VRAM data from that frame was overwritten by newly-loaded letter tiles. These are apparently loaded to display the
Password Screen. Sometimes, you will get what is seen in the first image below. I am unsure as to why the
background is violet, but the area in the lower-left corner seems to constantly change, reflecting the contents
of some section of VRAM. So, as you move around, charge, sing, etc. it changes. Using your echolocation map
here will royally mess things up (like they weren't already).
