Level 9 Overview: Trellia Test Level

It's unclear what level this eventually became, but the main attraction is that Trellia is in it. You get to her by using a glyph puzzle similar to the one in Crystal Springs in the final version.

The surface of the water and background are identical to the "Good Future" levels and the rocks match up too. You will see why that's important in just a moment ..

We also find a set of 4 loose glyphs arranged in a squarelike pattern. Highly awkward. Pick any one of them, it doesn't really matter which-- and sonar it repeatedly to break it loose, just like Crystal Springs. Bring it back to the 3 connected glyphs ...

Underwater and to the right we find these 3 glyphs anchored together. One is missing, as evidenced by the star in its place.

... and they come together properly! With much lightning and sparkles, in comes Trellia from .. some time period. How did she come from the future if I always already there?

Immediately after showing up, she sings to you and Ecco and (Trellia?) start time travelling. It's basically the same algorithm used by the time machine in Level 14, and Ecco 1. In the final version, Trellia singing to you would have brought up some messages, then Ecco had to touch her to go to her time period.

The sequence should stop you from moving Ecco around, but it doesn't. Push the D-Pad in any direction and Ecco will fly off and effect the movement of the flying stars. This is all fine and dandy but when you appear in the wrong location in the next level, it oftentimes crashes the game. Whoops.

Once the time travel sequence is complete, Trellia announces the message you see to the right. Despite the fact that she quite clearly just took you to the past. At any rate, it's Level 0, with the 2 rotating Asterite globes. Thanks a lot, Trellia! You just broke the plot! Seeing as you go to Level 0, the same as when you use the Time Machine, it seems this level was just randomly selected. Even though a level pretty similar to Trellia's Bay existed, that's not where you go. This sequence was probably coded first, then those levels made, then the level designer simply never got around to linking them together.
