Level 0 Overview - Placeholder Asterite's Home
 |
|
 |
| |
Completely missing from the final version, this cave with 2 of the
Asterite's globes bears the Present tiles and serves no purpose but
to be a place to put the Asterite's globes after you get them from
Level 6. He can only be halfway rebuilt,
as there is not a Deep Ridge or Big Water to get the other half of
the globes from, and the Globe Holder never breaks open. This was clearly
not meant to be kept in the final version, as the Moray Abyss is where the
Asterite's globes are left by the shell.

Starting the stage, we see we're in a stage with a blue coral background and
purple rocks of the type used in the levels where you seek out the Asterite's
globes.

 |
 |
|
Going up to the surface, we see a teleport ring. Touching it does nothing,
but it DOES work if you enter this level from the similar ring in Level 6. |
While we're on the surface, here's another shot of the sky, too-- the green one
with white clouds. |
 |
 |
|
Underwater, down and to the right is a cave containing 2 of the Asterite's globes--
about the only thing of interest in the level. Note the level tiles, this should be
the Present-Day Asterite. |
You can come here from Level 6 and halfway reassemble him ..
despite that there are ALSO 2 of his globes ready for reassembly in Level 13,
the prototype Moray Abyss. Apparently this was just put here for demonstration and to test the procedure
of assembling the Asterite. At any rate, you can't sing to the globes, they have no messages. |
 |
|
Further exploring the stage, there are the odd egglike plants which are also found in the final version.
The weird thing, though, is that the level's tiles seem to indicate you're in the present, when these
plants are from the Good Future. It looks like the tiles were meant for different time periods at this point.

Nothing shows up on sonar at all. Ecco doesn't, the Asterite's globes don't .. nothing.
Weird. Whether something shows up on Sonar seems to be entirely random depending on if the
developers got around to implementing it on the map. |
